Does anyone watch music videos anymore? Hmmm....every morning I sit in front of the tv with glazed eyes and a cup of coffee watching VH1 classic, re-living the 80's with gems from Huey Lewis and the News, Phil Collins, Heart, etc.-you know, all the really bad 80's videos MTV played after it stopped playing the Talking Heads' "Once in a Lifetime" and The Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star" about 100 times a day. Some of the absolute confusion I experience is how many of these artists had hits.
Anyway, just watching a Huey Lewis video today in 2006 will prompt you to say "What the Fuck? How and why did they spend all this cash on this video?".
This insanity is even more evident when you flip the channel two doors down to MTV2, where the non-stop hip hop party is happening 24/7....man, videos were different back then, I assure you.
For someone who saw the birth of MTV and music videos, the differences between then and now are like the differences in popular culture of the 1920's and the 1960's.....
Well, all this is leading up to an awesome link, that gives you the best 100 videos...EVER!
Thanks Pitchfork.....do yourself a favor....put your phone on voice mail, lock the door of the office, and watch all 100 of these videos...there is something for everyone...
